We thought it was about time that we celebrated some of the top players on our Social Recruiter Leaderboard.
That’s why, over the next couple of months, we’re going to be profiling a number of the most influential recruitment agencies on social media.
First up in our series are Big Cloud, an agency that specialises in recruiting for big data and data science roles.
We asked them about their experiences of using social media and whether they had any advice for agencies looking to establish themselves online…
What inspired you to join the #SocialRecruiter leaderboard?
As recruiters we’re naturally competitive, it’s a great bit of fun to keep driving in the office! It’s also great to connect with other recruiters out there in different markets from ourselves.
Tell us a little about your #SocialRecruiter journey.
We’ve had some highs and some lows since joining, having been up and down the board! Social media is difficult, and ever changing so we always try to keep on top of the ebb and flow as best we can.
What do you enjoy most about social media, and why?
We recruit in such a niche area of the market, that social media has proven to be a great tool for connecting with people you just wouldn’t be able to through other means. We love engaging with the Data Science community on all platforms and being able to get across our personality too!
How do you find time to concentrate on social media?
We’ve got a dedicated in-house specialist who keeps on top of all aspects of our marketing. Not just this, but the recruitment team love to pitch in and help out too!
Do you produce your own unique content?
We do! We’ve been featured in a variety of specialist Data Science and Artificial Intelligence publications and publish our own content regularly. It’s an integral part of our strategy.
If so, have you noticed an improvement in your social influence?
Which campaign has been the biggest hit with your followers?
Promoting our Singapore Salary Survey last year was most definitely our biggest social win. It garnered a lot of attention, and has spurred us on to undertake our first global scale report this year!
Why do you think this connected so well with them?
It provided answers to burning questions, we all want to see how we compare with our peers don’t we! Not just this, but for hiring managers its proved useful as a guide to recruiting the right talent.
What’s the one main business benefit you get out of social media?
Brand awareness (and trust) has increased phenomenally through using social media and getting our business in front of influencers in the field which we recruit in.
How would you describe the personality of your business?
We’re a driven bunch here and like to do recruitment a little differently – and have fun whilst we do it!
If your recruitment agency was an emoji, what would it be?
It’s got to be the robot for us! 🤖
What makes your recruitment agency Distinct?
We’d say our collaborative nature. Of course, there is competition and targets, but we’re always working together as a whole to get the best outcome for our candidates and clients!

Are there any exciting projects in the pipeline that you’d like to tell us about?
We have loads coming up over the coming months, some exciting new additions to the website and our global salary survey launch later in the year! We won’t go into too much detail though 😉
What advice would you give to new leaderboard sign-ups, who are looking to climb?
Just be yourself! Social media is all about being you and being authentic and engaging – mostly, go out there and have fun!
